Buddy of mine was telling me he was slaying them all week in the flats off Marker 42.....so....whats a guy to do???? but head out there at morning's first light Saturday.
I was a beautiful paddle...as some of you may know its a couple miles paddle to reach the flats...at leaset mwe weren't skunked.....4 trout and a couple huge reds that I lost when they closed in on my kayak. Couldn't believe it....so back to fishing 101 for me !!!
Not a kind of day he had been having but it sure was nice to be paddling again!! Damn winter and winter winds lasted way too long for me.
BTW...if you want a good laugh just go there and watch the guys with the stink pots almost kill each other getting launched......unbelievable stupidity...one guy launched without his keys, no paddle, no pole....totally unbelievable!!!

Is that marker 42 off the ICW? I was fishing last weekend at 34. I am new to kayaking, I normally fish in my center console (19' mako). I have an inflatable kayak now, but think I want an ocean kayak, perhaps scrambler xt. Do you have any recommendations for what type of kayak/brand to get? Is there a group in central florida that goes out? I would like to go out with someone who knows the area, before I do it solo. Thanks. Henry.
I was north of Haulover Canal on State Road 3, Mosquito Lagoon side. Give me a call anytime for fishing. I live in Titusville and go just about anywhere from Sebastian to Oak Hill !!
