I would like to know what you all like to use for rods and reels? What type of lines? I am a kayaker so it is almost guaranteed that my reels will get dunked each trip. Theorys and Stradics do not hold up. Can anyone tell me whats reels do hold up in Florida? I wash and lube my reels and even treat them to a bath in corrision X now and then. Help!

I fish the Okuma VS-30a w/ Okuma Guide Select 7' MH rods. I recently switched from the Okuma Epixor EF-30 reels because I do not guide anymore and wanted to upgrade. I have sold a few Epixors to members of the kayak club and they have been very happy with them. Retail prices are as follows:

Okuma Epixor EF-30a reels: $59.99 (one year warranty)
Okuma VS-30a reels: $149.99 (five year warranty!)
Okuma Guide Select rods: $79.99 (lifetime warranty!)

I second that sentiment about Okuma. Only, I prefer the Medium Action rods for throwing lighter artificials.

I use the shimano spheros and I have hand no problems at all. I just wash em off with fresh water and thats it. They do get drenched in saltwater about everytime I go out and they are holdin up. I use uglystick intercoastals also. The set up is not top dollar but their strong and dependable. Shimano Spheros-$80.00
Ugly stick intercoastal-$40.00

Just my 2 cents

Quantum Cabo and g-loomis are next in the line up
