New rules for state and federal waters of the Gulf of Mexico will require all commercial fishers and recreational anglers fishing for any Gulf reef fish species to use circle hooks, dehooking devices and venting tools. The new laws take effect on June 1st.

Any thoughts on what effects this will have on the fishery?

I thought the law applied to everything past 6 miles or something. I'm not really sure. circle hooks are no guarantee, some how i managed to gut hook three trout in a row with em yesterday! The arc dehookers look interesting but i've never tried em.
